Loving grandmother passes, Edith Estelle (Ketchum) Miller, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009, age 102. Predeceased by her infant daughter Glena (1928), her first husband, Glen B. Collier (1941), her loving husband of 52 years Clarence F. Miller (Pete, 1996), her son Lester C. Collier (1999), her grandson David F. Collier (2004), her daughter-in-law Elaine King Collier (2005), and all her 5 brothers and 5 sisters (1967 – 2006). She is survived by her son Donald R. Collier of Unionville, her daughter-in-law Elaine Collier of Vero Beach, FL, several foster children, 12 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, many great great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. Born April 13, 1907 in West Webster, NY. She and Glen were married in 1924 and farmed in Williamson, Wayne Co, NY, where Lester, Don and Glena were born. After Glen died, Edith married Clarence and in 1946 she and Clarence moved to Unionville. Edith became a member of the First Church of Christ, Congregational in 1960. She was a charter member of the Tunxis Senior Citizens and fully enjoyed club activities for many years. Her youthful, cheerful spirit and love for children led her to raise many foster children and to become a beloved grandmother. Her smile and playful sense of humor enriched the lives of all who knew her. Genuine appreciation and thanks are extended to those who cared her during her last years and the final days. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held Saturday (Dec. 12) at 11:00 in Greenwood Cemetery, Avon followed by a gathering at the First Church of Christ, Congregational, Unionville in the Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Toys for Tots by dropping a new unwrapped toy in any drop box or contributions may be mailed to the Dr. Edward P. Dunne Scholarship Fund P.O.
