Brenneman, Fred

Fred Brenneman, 78, of Unionville, died Thursday, (August 25, 2011) at home surrounded by his family. Fred was born January 24, 1933 in Framingham, MA to the late Richard S. and Helen E. Brenneman. Fred and his family have been long-time residents of the Unionville community. Fred graduated from Boston College in 1955 and served 2 years in the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant, before commencing his career in Human Resources with Dunham-Bush in Virginia and West Hartford. In his retirement years Fred enjoyed working part time at Manchester Honda, in Manchester. Fred was very active and his passions included golfing, traveling, fishing, bicycling, reading, American history, movies and his beloved Yankees. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family, especially the beach vacations in Rhode Island. Fred was also passionate about the SPCA in loving memory of his cherished Springer Spaniel, ‘Freckles’. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Barbara; and their four daughters Jill Finneran (Bill) of Andover, MA and their children Trip and Emily, his daughter Meg of Unionville, his daughter Amy Hodge (Simon) of Atlanta, GA and their son Henry, and his youngest daughter, Kate Fleming ( Mark) of Burlington and their twin children Charlie and Victoria. Fred is also survived by his two brothers Dick and Jack Brenneman (Nancy); and his three sisters, June Stephens, Joann Fair (Bob) and Susan Cioppa (Carl).
A celebration of Fred’s life will be held on Saturday, September 3 at 11 a.m at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main Street, Rt. 4, Unionville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SPCA of Connecticut, 359 Spring Hill Road, Monroe, CT 06468, the Farmington Library, 6 Monteith Dr., Farmington, CT 06032 or the Unionville Museum, 15 School St., Unionville, CT 06085.
