Constance R. “Connie” Grew, 86, of Farmington, beloved widow of Edward P. Grew, passed away Wednesday, May 11th at home at the Gables after a brief illness surrounded by her family. Born August 30th, 1924 in Chicago, IL, daughter of the late Theodore and Isabel Peck, Connie grew up in Brooklyn, NY. She and Ed met at IBM, married and raised their family in East Meadow, NY and in Avon, CT. Connie worked as a keypunch operator for the Hartford Insurance Group and the State of Connecticut Labor Department before becoming a medial secretary at UConn Health Center in the Oral Pathology Department. Connie moved to Clearwater, FL in 1984 and was an active participant in the Clearwater Recreation Department’s Senior fitness program. Although her primary interest was her family, Connie had many other interests such as being an avid knitter and gardener, and she was especially devoted to her Catholic religion. Connie is survived by her daughter, Jan Grew John and her husband Bob, her son, Richard J. Grew and his fiancée Susan Rider, four grandchildren, Ryan Grew, David Grew, Conor Grew and Molly Grew, three nieces, Connie Boardman, Robin Devlin, and Sherrie L’Heureaux and two nephews, Ted and Chris Peck, and Bob and Dawn Peck. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Friday (May 20) at 10:00am in the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea, Unionville followed by burial in St. Ann Cemetery, Avon. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Boulevard, Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852.
