Atwood, Penney

Penney (Doris) Lillian (Romans) Atwood peacefully left her family and friends on Friday August 3rd, 2012. Penney was born April 18, 1942 in Newington, CT, and lived most of her adult life in Burlington, CT. Penney loved her family, daughter Patricia and her husband Michael from Bristol, CT and son Peter and his wife Karen from Williamsville, VT. Her six grandchildren: Brandon, Christopher, Jamie, Diandra, Alyssa and Jillian were the joys of her life. Their activities and interests helped to fuel her love of life and keep her always young at heart. Penney shared her house and heart with her beloved companion and pet Princess, a rescued cat who filled a void in her life and who she never stopped loving or caring for. Penney was very creative and for many years provided for herself by handcrafting beautiful handmade artistries which she sold at craft fairs throughout the state. This was something she loved doing and gave her the opportunity to meet many new and exciting people and gain new insight to the crafting world. Penney had many friends and continued to make friends very easily with everyone she encountered. She attended the Founders Church in Harwinton, CT and the fellowship that this provided gave her great support and strength when life’s struggles got her down. Penney’s friends played a big part in her life and their many unselfish efforts over the years have been greatly appreciated. A celebration of life for Penney will take place at the Founder’s Church in Harwinton, CT, on August 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the church in Penney’s name are requested.
